Yellow Alamanda Kampanilyang Dilaw

 (Allamanda cathartica)

There are two forms of this plant, a large, climbing woody vine or a shrub. The shrub generally grows 4 to 5 feet. The vine will grow over anything and is a prolific bloomer. The big yellow funnel-shaped flowers are mostly at the end of the branches. The leaves are smooth, thick, opposite and pointed. If spent flowers are not deadheaded, rounded, prickly, burlike fruits will form. These fruits split to release winged seeds. Kampanilyang Dilaw has a white milky sap in all parts, which oozes out as soon as it is broken. The milky latex (sap) may cause illness and rash in sensitive people and large doses may cause vomiting. The sap also protects this plant from harmful insects except the "frangipani caterpillar", which can cope with the toxins in the leaves.

These plants are about 12-15 inches in height.
