Dwarf Pomegranate (Punica Granatum)
Hardier than the full-sized varieties, and completely self-fertile!
Nana is a dwarf Pomegranate tree with more vigor than the full-sized varieties! Only 3 feet tall, it is the perfect edible ornamental for containers or small gardens, offering beautiful blooms and small, tart fruit just right for nibbling! If you're looking for a houseplant that does more than just look good, or a gift that will be useful as well as beautiful, Nana's the answer!
Bright reddish-orange blooms decorate this tiny tree in May, followed by charming 2- to 3-inch orange fruit with tiny, tart-sweet seeds. Nana is self-fertile, which means it needs no second tree for pollination. And it's actually hardier than its full-sized cousins!
If you're growing this Pomegranate indoors, choose a sunny, draft-free window, and rotate the plant periodically so that all sides receive direct sunlight. In the garden, a sheltered southern or eastern location is best (and a walled patio is ideal). Fruit will set in all locations, but will only ripen and become edible in warm climates (or indoors in cooler areas). Very easy to grow, Nana does need well-drained soil. Carefree, beautiful, and fun to grow, it's the perfect gift for busy gardeners, non-gardeners, and seasoned pros who need a plant that looks after itself! One- gallon container. Zones 7-10 (or farther north if brought indoors before first frost).
These plants are about 8-12 inches in height.
