Bay leaf (Laurus nobilis)
Bay leaf (plural bay leaves) also known as laurel refers to the aromatic leaf of the Bay Laurel. It is considered as herb and a spice. Fresh or dried bay leaves are used in cooking such as soups, stews, meat and vegetable dishes for their distinctive flavor and fragrance. The fresh leaves are very mild and do not develop their full flavor until several weeks after picking and drying.
West Indies Sea Grape (Coccoloba uvifera L)
Sea grapes has alternate, simple, circular with a heart-shaped base, leathery and persistent, 5 to 11 inches long, dark green with a red or nearly yellow mid-vein, fuzzy below. The flowers not showy, borne on a narrow stalk, 10 to 12 inches long, appearing nearly any time of year. The fruit are round or egg-shaped, each about 1 inch long, initially pale green and turning pinkish when ripe, occurring on long, hanging clusters.
